If you are seeking a saddle stitch book printer, Book1One is a great choice!
Our saddle stitch book binding process is an ideal method and a popular choice for anyone wishing to produce items such as booklets, notebooks, workbooks, catalogs, promotional books, event programs, coloring books, and other publications where an inexpensive, yet professional look is desired.
Many organizations have found saddle stitching to be perfect for hand-out materials used in workshops, seminars, tradeshows and other promotional events.
There are no “stitches” in saddle stitch binding. Rather, the books are designed in four page increments created from single sheets of paper, printed on both sides and then folded in half. Pages are then aligned, placed in page number order, folded, and then stapled on the fold.
Minimum and maximum page limits
The minimum number of pages for saddle stitch bound books is eight, and the maximum number of pages is 48. Saddle stitch bound books are only available in portrait orientation.
Production turnaround times
The standard turnaround time for a saddle stitch book order is five business days. A rush order of three business days is available at an additional charge. If you have a deadline you to meet, please consider shipping time in your calculations.
Preparing your saddle stitch book
Book1One works exclusively with PDF files. You can convert your documents to PDFs using your own PDF converter either online or as a print driver on your own computer. When converting to PDF, please maintain the “highest resolution” and make sure your fonts are embedded.
We suggest allowing at least a 1/2” margin on the binding edge of each page of your book and at least a 1/4” margin at the top, bottom, and outside edges of each page.
If you have any critical content including backgrounds or images proceeding to the edge of your pages, you will want to include an ⅛'' bleed on all four edges of your pages so no critical content is cut during binding.
Because the page count for a saddle stitch book must be in multiples of four, the first page in your book file should be your front cover, and the last page should be the outside back cover. The paper weight for a saddle stitch book cover is normally the same weight as the book pages and is called a "self-cover". However, you can select one of the three 100# cover stock options, if you wish, at the following additional charges.
- 100# gloss film: $1.45 per cover
- 100# matte film: $1.65 per cover
- 100# gloss UV coating: $.80 per cover
