Hard cover book binding

The hard cover books we produce use the same high quality process and materials that are used with any top selling books on the market. With this method, the text pages are glued together at the spine to create a sort of "text block". The "end leaves" that holds the text block into the case are applied to the binding edge of the text block. The cover is created separately using your  materials and is glued to the end leaves and text block to create a book that will last for years.

Preparing Your Document

Pages:

Because of the trimming process, please allow a 3/4" margin on the binding edge of each page and at least a 1/2" margin at the top, bottom, and outside edge of the page.

Book1One works exclusively with PDF files. Creating a PDF is very easy and can be done two different ways:

        1. You can convert your document to PDF using your own PDF converter
either online or as a print driver on your own computer. When
converting to PDF, please maintain the "highest resolution" and make
            sure the fonts are embedded.

        2. Book1One's online-ordering system allows you to upload many
different file formats. This system will convert your file to a print ready
PDF. Please be sure to completely review your file on the "approve
page" as this is the file that will print.

We have developed interactive  guides to help you create your cover. Please select the link below to download the guide that applies to your project. When you have downloaded the guide please input the text trim size, page count (All page counts are based on 2 sided print. If you are using 1 sided print, please double the page count.) and select paper type. This guide will help you determine the proper layout of your cover. Once you have completed your cover and/or dust jacket, upload those files first when placing your order.

For basic foil stamping you can simply note what will be required on the cover and spine in the notes section while placing your order. We will fit and center the type using the Time New Roman font.
